Organize Around Your God-Designed Potential

We all come into this world with great potential because we’ve been created from the unlimited resources of God’s hands. And while our potential varies from person to person, God can do anything He wants, through any of us, at any given time. As a result, you can see how important it is to unleash your potential into the world, for the glory of God, and for the good of His creation.

When it comes to your potential, you’ll discover that it’s really a combination of two things:

Your natural strengths and spiritual gifts.

YOUR NATURAL STRENGTHS

If you look back over the course of your life, you’ll be able to identify the things that have always come naturally for you. Math, science, sports, music, writing, public speaking… you already know the things that you were born with a certain skill set towards.

None of your strengths are by accident. At the core of the Christian faith, there’s the belief that every human being was created in the womb by God, and that He declares every person to be “fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139). When David proclaims that, He’s speaking of something that’s both an act of beauty, and an act of intentionality. You arrived on this planet with amazing and innate strengths. And your potential lies, in part, as you discover and exert your natural skills and abilities.

To help you along this journey, the MOU Team highly recommends a simple and insightful online assessment tool called “Strength Finder”. You’ll discover your top five strengths, give them a name, and learn to function effectively from that unique place.

YOUR SPIRITUAL GIFTS

Your spiritual gifts exist apart from your natural strengths. For all who have been made alive in Christ, a certain group of spiritual gifts has been given to them by God. He bestows these gifts on Christ-followers when we receive the gift of His grace in Christ. These spiritual gifts are chosen by God, for us, and are used to accomplish the purposes of God, through us.

Think back to the season during which you gave your life to Christ; You can probably identify a gift that wasn’t a part of your life, but then began to appear. And much of the time, many Christians don’t even recognize these as supernatural gifts because they’ve become so normal for them over time. But as others affirm our spiritual gifts, we can learn to replicate them as we grow into spiritual maturity.

When you find yourself saying things like: “I love doing that,” “It’s easy for me,” or “It’s just what I do,” chances are good that you’re pointing to a gift that’s been given to you by the Spirit of God, to accomplish the purposes of God.

While much of that discovery lies in the affirmation of other believers who know and love you, we encourage you to discover your spiritual gifts for yourself. Clink the link below to get started.
